ITS UK wins ‘Association Transformation’ award

ITS UK is delighted to announce we have been awarded the Best Association Transformation Award at the prestigious Trade Association Awards on Thursday 27 February 2025.

The Award for the association that had “delivered a transformation programme to overhaul and renew the association’s mission, strategy, structure or finances”.

The award is significant recognition of the modernisation programme undertaken over the past year, which has seen increases in members numbers and satisfaction scores, the delivery of new and larger events over the course of the year and ITS UK becoming the leading advocacy body for the transport technology sector. The judges also highlighted how the programme of improvements was a significant achievement for such a small team.

What are the Awards?

Now in its 22nd year, the Trade Association Awards recognise excellence, innovation and best practice amongst Trade Associations in the UK. They are attended by around 350 professionals from across the trade association sector and are supported by the Department of Business and Trade.

The Awards are run by the Trade Association Forum (TAF), the trade association for trade associations. TAF has been encouraging the development and sharing of best practice among UK trade associations since 1997, promoting the role of effective trade associations to government, industry and the wider public.

Association Transformation Award

The Award was presented to ITS UK for its change programme over 2023/24, which included a rebrand, new website, refocus on Government engagement, new events and a revamp of the organisation’s membership structure. The changes were seen as a success following higher membership numbers and membership satisfaction scores at the end of 2024.

Max Sugarman, Chief Executive of ITS UK said: “This award is fantastic recognition of the great work by the ITS UK team and Board in providing a modern, professional and innovative industry association for the ITS sector. The last few years has seen ITS UK look to improve our offer to members and to raise the profile of the sector through advocacy to Government.

“With new events, member services, campaigns and support, we’ve been able to deliver even more for the transport technology sector, ultimately supporting the growth of an industry that is vital to the UK and its economy.”

Emily Wallace, Chief Executive of the Trade Association Forum and one of the head judges on the panel said: “The judges were impressed by how the ITS UK team have transformed the association, through the implementation of a range of new initiatives which substantially improved its value to members.”

Max added: “A big thank you to all the members who supported us over this period of change, and who continue to help us make the case for ITS in the UK!”

The Evening

Accepting the award on behalf of the team were ITS UK’s Max Sugarman, Public Affairs & PR Executive Eduardo Pitts and Membership Executive Priscilla Ross. The team enjoyed a glamorous evening at the De Vere Grand Connaught rooms in central London, celebrating with other trade associations and membership bodies from around the country.
