This Briefing Note sets out background on the Home Office Type Approval (HOTA) process for approving enforcement technology.
It highlights the current issues with the system, including long delays to approval, limited dialogue with manufacturers and issues with the “Collision Reduction Equipment” Handbook.
The Briefing Note is part of ITS UK’s campaign on getting HOTA right, focused on ensuring the approval process for enforcement technology is fit for purpose. An effective process will support the safety of road users and benefit a crucial industry for the UK.
