TRL Secures Contract with the progressive capital city of Mongolia Ulaanbaatar, to Implement Advanced Road Crash Data Management System

TRL is delighted to announce it has won a contract with the Governor’s office of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, to develop and implement a cutting-edge Road Crash Data Management System. This initiative marks a significant step forward in delivering Mongolia’s road safety strategy to enhance road safety for Ulaanbaatar’s 1.6 million residents.

The 24-month project will see TRL working closely with the traffic police department of Ulaanbaatar to establish an integrated road crash data management system. TRL’s Road Crash Analysis Software systems, which are in operation across the world, and have to date saved over 25,000 lives globally, will enable the collection, analysis, and sharing of road crash and safety performance data among various stakeholders. By providing access to accurate and timely data, the project aims to facilitate evidence-based decision-making for interventions designed to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on the roads.

As with many countries, Mongolia faces challenges with road safety, with a fatality rate of 17 per 100,000 population. The Government of Mongolia recognises the urgency of the situation and has initiated a comprehensive road safety programme, which incorporates TRL’s expertise and support, to adopt a data-driven approach to tackle this critical issue.

TRL’s based Road Crash Analysis Software system implementations are known for its robust capabilities in managing road crash data, offering real-time insights, and facilitating collaboration among different agencies. The development and implementation of this software in Ulaanbaatar is expected to significantly improve the city’s ability to respond to road safety challenges, with the potential to expand its usage across Mongolia.

Commenting on the project, TRL CEO Paul Campion said, “We are honoured to collaborate with the Ulaanbaatar Governor’s office on this important initiative. Our goal is to provide the tools necessary for the traffic police and other stakeholders to make informed decisions that will save lives and enhance road safety across the region.”

Once operational, the system will provide a comprehensive platform for managing road crash data, with the potential to scale up and be utilised by stakeholders across Mongolia, fostering a unified approach to road safety.

This partnership underscores TRL’s commitment to advancing road safety globally through innovative solutions and evidence-based methodologies.
